Transport plays a key role in the economy, acting as a hub that connects people, goods and services, and enables the development of economic activities. An efficient transport system can solve logistical problems and allows products to reach the final consumer fast and without interruptions, which increases competitiveness.
However, the transport sector drives innovation and economic growth, but it is also responsible for nearly a quarter of total greenhouse gas emissions. (1)

Minimize carbon emissions in transport is therefore a challenge.
In 2023, 91% of the energy used for land, sea and air transport will come from fossil fuels.
Nonetheless, there is hope: Through the adoption of electric vehicles and the promotion of renewable energy sources, it is possible to transform the sector and lead it towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
World Sustainable Transport Day
In 2023, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day with the aim of recognizing the importance of safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport.
Sustainable transport, with its goals of accessibility for all, increased safety, reduced environmental and climate impact, is essential for sustainable development. It not only provides the services and infrastructure needed for the transport of people and goods, but also contributes to achieving other objectives, such as eradicating poverty, reducing inequality, empowering women and combating climate change.
Sunshine Delivers’ commitment to sustainable transport
At Sunshine Delivers, we understand that the transition to more sustainable transport is essential to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a cleaner planet. That is why we have taken a firm step towards the electrification of our truck fleet, eliminating the CO2 emissions associated with the transport of goods. We are not only committed to the future of the planet, but also to the well-being of our communities and the environment.
Every electric truck we add to our fleet represents a step towards a greener solution, a solution that reduces emissions and improves air quality in cities. But we do not stop there. We continue to seek innovations that allow us to optimize our operations and take sustainable transport to new levels.
There is no time to lose
António Guterres’ message is clear: “There is no time to waste. Let’s get going.” Sustainability is not just an option, but an urgent necessity. As a sector, we have the opportunity to lead the way towards a cleaner future, not only in terms of emissions, but also in terms of the well-being of generations to come.
It is time to reflect on the role we play in this global challenge.
